Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Key aspects of “training up a child”
- Instilling values:
Teaching children the “way he should go” involves showing them the right path or moral conduct, according to religious or community values.
- Consistency:
The concept suggests that consistent teaching and modeling of these values are essential so that they become deeply ingrained in a child’s life.
- Long-term impact:
The goal is that these early teachings will become a lasting part of the child’s character and behavior as they grow into an adult.
- Guidance and love:
The process involves guiding children, showing them true love, and equipping them with the knowledge and principles they need to navigate life.
In essence, “train up a child” is a parenting philosophy centered on providing foundational principles, values, and character development that will guide a child throughout their life. It is for certain that a trained up child will take it upon themselves to become a mentor to others.
The Brothers of the Bible will be introducing a program called “Youth to Youth Mentoring”.
